EMT Basic Training

Prehospital and emergency care is an exciting and challenging endeavor. The EMT course consists of classroom training which include lecture and skills instruction. The student will also perform hands on training by completing student rotations in pre-hospital and hospital settings.

EMT Program Description

The EMT-Basic Program is designed to prepare the student for a career in Emergency Medicine, to be certified in the state of Florida as an Emergency Medical Technician, who is also ready for National Registry Certification exam upon graduation. The program consists of lectures, labs, clinical rotations and ride times.

This 1994 D.O.T National Standard Curriculum incorporates all skills necessary for the individual to provide emergency medical care at a basic life support level with an ambulance service, pre-hospital provider and or other specialized service becoming a vital link in the health care team chain. Upon successful completion of the program a Certificate is granted. This may be applied as credit earned to an AS in EMS

EMT Admission

Registration is considered complete only when the following requirements have been met and the date of such has been indicated on the application.

In order to register the student must:
  • Present a current BLS for Healthcare Providers (CPR) AHA Card.
  • Have a HS Diploma or GED.
  • Be 18 years of age.
  • Have a physical / health clearance from a physician (health forms provided)
  • Have a five panel drug screen
  • Valid Drivers License or Photo ID
  • Submit tuition payment
