Earning Your Fire Science Degree: January 2016 Start Time

AS Fire Science Jane 11, 2016

One of the degree programs that Health Career Institute offers is an Associate of Science in Fire Science, with a new semester beginning January 11, 2016.

Although to become a firefighter it’s not mandatory that you take part in a Fire Science program, it may be recommended by the company you work for.  In addition to that, it could also be very helpful to your chances of moving up within the company.

Associate of Science Degree and Firefighters

An Associate of Science Degree is most common for prospective firefighters. In a two-year program, students may be taught the foundations of emergency services.  Some courses in a two-year fire science major may be fire prevention, fire behavior and combustion, and fire protection. An associates degree in fire science should help prepare you for examinations once you are going through the hiring process with a fire department.

As an incoming student in HCI’s fire science program, you may also want to prepare yourself by becoming EMT certified.  Many departments may require an EMT certification in order to apply for a position since a majority of calls are emergency medical related responses.

When it comes to advancing within the career, education and skills may have a large impact on whether or not you get that promotion.  Many employers see education as a sign of dedication and hard work.  Mixing that with a strong skillset and leadership could make you qualified for a promotion.

If you think that fire science may be the right career path for you, head to Health Career Institute’s website and apply for the January 11, 2016 start date!
