Salaries for a firefighter vary for a number of factors such as, level of education, year of experience and location.  Below are some examples of firefighter salaries throughout the United States.

Firefighters in New York, NY

As a new firefighter in New York City, fresh out of the academy, you can expect to make an annual salary anywhere between $43,700 to $50,900.  Education and prior training may have an effect of where within that range you fall.  With 20 years or more of experience as a firefighter, in New York City you could make anywhere from $50,900 to $58,000.

Firefighters in San Diego, CA

A firefighter just starting out in San Diego will most likely start earning anywhere from $39,450 to $45,950 yearly.  With 20 or more years of experience, the average firefighter could earn up to $52,500 a year.

Firefighters in Seattle, WA

Similar to San Diego, a firefighter with less than a year of experience in Seattle can earn anywhere between $39,600 to $46,000 yearly.  And with more experience, the average firefighter can earn up to $52,700 a year as a firefighter.
