Becoming a Firefighter in Florida

Becoming a firefighter in Florida starts by getting the right training. Firefighters have to follow safety procedures and know how to navigate buildings in a fire.

Specialized training prepares firefighters to succeed on the job.

Requirements for firefighters

Firefighters in Florida have EMT-Basic and Firefighter II certifications. They also have to have Firefighter Minimum Standards Certification training. Because of the physical aspect of the job, firefighters should also work to be at their best fitness level.

You can receive the training needed to become a firefighter at Health Career Institute. We offer EMT and Paramedic certifications, Fire training, and a degree in Fire Science.

Firefighter training will prepare you for Firefighter I and II certification. You learn how to perform the responsibilities of being a firefighter. From rescuing people and animals to putting out fires, firefighters must know how a wide range of rescue techniques relate to fires and fire safety.

The associates degree in Fire Science prepares firefighters for supervisory and technical positions within the fire service. Firefighters will be able to enhance their careers with this degree. Specialized knowledge in fire science will also make firefighters more successful as firefighters in their communities.
