Margaret Burden, DNP, APRN, AGPCNP-BC, NP-C, CWCN, EDS-C

Dr. Burden has had a rewarding career in nursing for over 25 years, graduating with her BSN, cum laude, from Florida Atlantic University. As an RN, she has worked in various clinical specialties, including critical care, PACU, trauma, home health, and travel nursing, until finding a passion for wound care management. She is certified as a wound care nurse through the Wound Ostomy Continence Society and as an excisional debridement specialist.

Later in her career, Dr. Burden returned to school at FAU to pursue her master’s and doctorate in Adult Gerontology Primary Care. During that time, she was honored with the FNPN Loretta C. Ford Advanced Practice Scholarship, the Southeast Region WOCN Advanced Practice Scholarship, the Helen Shoaf Memorial Scholarship, induction into the Iota Xi Chapter of Sigma Theta Tau International Honor Society of Nursing, and selection as a DNP student provider for the FAU Cares Federal Grant providing mobile primary care services to underserved areas in West Palm Beach. After graduating, she immediately began working as an advanced practice wound care specialist, providing management of acute and chronic wounds and implementing advanced treatment modalities.

Dr. Burden has always been passionate about academic growth, making several professional presentations on various quality improvement studies she has completed and has served as a DNP project advisor for Doctor of Nursing Practice students. Dr. Burden was pleased to join HCI as a pharmacology instructor this past year and is excited to come on board as Director of Nursing for HCI. She is extremely honored to join this dynamic team committed to continued excellence in nursing education.
