You are trying to make the best choice for your life, and that includes a career that suits you. One important aspect of choosing the right career is where that career will take you. What are the possibilities? Is this field increasing or decreasing? What will your pay be like?

These are all important aspects to know about any career you might be thinking of going to school for. The following will inform you about a career in Nursing and what you can expect once you enter the field.

Education For Nursing

When going into nursing, you have three options. Those options are:

  1. Bachelor’s degree in nursing
  2. Associate’s degree in nursing
  3. Diploma

*All registered nurses must be licensed.

Salary For Nursing

While your salary will depend on your education, your position, and where you work, the average pay for a registered nurse is $65,470 according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics. This breaks down to $31.48 per hour.

Job Growth For Nursing

According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, the registered nurse employment is expected to grow 19% from 2012 to 2022, which equates to about 526,800 new nursing openings. The main reason for this is due to the Baby Boomers and that they require increased medical attention as they grow older.
