Prerequisites to Becoming a Nurse at HCI

Prerequisites to Becoming a Nurse at HCI

Your career in nursing can begin with an education at Health Career Institute.

Registered nurses continue to be in high demand at hospitals and clinics throughout the state of Florida (and indeed, the entire nation). Nursing training prepares the student to handle medical situations and treat patients for a variety of injuries and diseases. HCI gives students the opportunity to apply what they learn in the classroom through hands-on labs and clinicals. Upon completion of the degree, students will be eligible to take the NCLEX examination in Florida.

Admission Requirements for HCI Degrees in Nursing

HCI prepares future nurses for the health field through the Associate of Science degree in Nursing. To apply for the program, a nursing student will need to be at least 18 years old and possess a valid driver’s license. Nursing students will also need to submit their high school diploma or G.E.D. credentials as well as any transcripts from other post-secondary education. Applicants also need to have a current American Heart Association Basic Life Support (AHA BLS) for Healthcare Provider card before being accepted into the program.

Another prerequisite to becoming a nurse with HCI is completing the Enrollment Agreement and Application with appropriate fees and providing a signed physical from a physician that has been completed within the last 12 months. Nursing students will need to submit a current 5 panel drug screen that has been done within the last six months.

Graduation Requirement for Becoming a Nurse at HCI

Nursing students will complete 72 credit hours with classroom lectures, labs, and clinicals. Nursing students need to maintain a B grade in nursing core courses and at least a C grade in general education courses. Completing 100 percent of the clinicals and simulations is required in order to graduate, and students will also need to receive at least a 96 percent probability score on the ATI Comprehensive Predictor. Once a student has graduated from the degree program, the student is now eligible to take the NCLEX exam and become licensed as a registered nurse in Florida.
