If you are looking to attend Heath Career Institute for the Paramedic diploma program, you have come to the right place. Here we will give you a brief overview of what you can expect once you are accepted for this program.

The Paramedic diploma program consists of 45 credits and 3 semesters. Your education will include 240 hours of ride time, and 160 hours of hospital time.

Courses And Descriptions For The Paramedic Diploma Program

The first semester you will take Lecture Lab Combined. You will learn advanced pre-hospital care of emergency patients. Some topics you will study are:

This course must be completed with a minimum of a B, or 80%.

During your second semester, you will take the next level of Lecture Lab Combined. Some medical emergencies you will focus on are:

You will also focus on trauma emergencies, including:

Just like your first semester, you must complete this course with a minimum of a B average. 

In your third semester, you will focus on theory and procedures used by a comprehensive EMS System in the care of an emergency patient. The topics you will study include:

  • Acute interventions for the chronic care patient

Graduation Requirements For The Paramedic Diploma Program

This Paramedic program is graded on a Pass/Fail basis. Once you have completed all exams, field time, and paperwork, you will be awarded your diploma.
