What is the BLS Certification
The BLS certification stands for Basic Life Support for healthcare providers. It focuses on the basic life support techniques for cardiopulmonary emergencies. Some of the skills covered are performing CPR, using an AED, and relieving choking in a safe and timely manner.
Current science and guidelines from the American Heart Association informs the instruction. In a BLS certification course, you will learn Critical concepts of high-quality CPR, The American Heart Association Chain of Survival, 1-Rescuer CPR and AED for adult, child and infant, and 2-Rescuer CPR and AED for adult, child and infant.
The certification course also teaches prehospital providers rescue breathing and bag-mask techniques for infants, children, and adults. You will learn how to relieve choking and perform CPR with advanced airway as well.
What is the ACLS Certification
The ACLS certification stands for Advanced Cardiac Life Support. With this certification, the healthcare provider is equipped to handle more advanced emergencies. It is a great complement to your Paramedic certification.
ACLS-certified individuals can evaluate and manage a sudden adult respiratory arrest, VF/VT arrest, asystole, pulseless electrical activity, bradycardias, stable and unstable tachycardias, acute coronary syndromes, and acute stroke.
