A complete EMS program offered online

You can complete HCI’s Associate of Science degree in EMS completely online. The program is 60 credits. You will experience an in-depth EMT and Paramedic combined curriculum that prepares you to become certified in Emergency Medical Services.

In the first semester, the EMS student will become acquainted with Emergency Medical Technician terminology and techniques. You will learn what EMTs are responsible for doing. You will also learn the basics of patient care in emergency situations.

Each subsequent semester becomes more challenging. Once you have learned EMT basics, you will be introduced to advanced EMS knowledge at the Paramedic level. Some of the topics covered include the following: air-way management, medication administration, cardiology, pulmonary, communicable diseases, ambulance operations, rescue awareness and operations, and so much more.

Prepare for a new career in the comfort of your own home

The EMS courses cover the whole gamut of knowledge and skills that you will need for working as an EMS professional in the field. In addition, you will take general education courses for a well-rounded approach to your education.

General education courses will cover English composition, mathematics, psychology, and American history. These subjects are important because they provide the “soft skills” that you will need on the job.

Written and verbal communication skills are vital for teamwork and patient interaction. Mathematics is important for making sure that the EMS professional gives the correct amount of medication to a patient. Psychology will also play a role in an EMS career because psychology gives insight into how people think and why they do what they do.

The AS in EMS can take as little as 24 months to complete. You can take your classes online, that prepare you for a fast-paced career in Emergency Medical Services. Contact us at 561-586-0121 to register for classes or ask questions.
