fort lauderdale emt

If you are looking for an accredited Emergency Medical Technician program in Fort Lauderdale, you have come to the right place! HCI offers an EMT program at our campus in Fort Lauderdale.

The Bureau of Labor Statistics forecasts continued demand for EMTs and Paramedics. An EMT is an entry-level prehospital provider who works alongside Paramedics, doctors and surgeons to support the life of patients.

Become an EMT at HCI in four months

HCI’s EMT program can be completed in four months, or one semester. The program is comprehensive and technical. You will gain the knowledge base you need to make medical decisions on behalf of your patients, as well as the technical skills to implement that knowledge.

The Emergency Medical Technician program is a total of 300 clock hours. In those clock hours, you will learn medical terminology, medical equipment, human anatomy and physiology and emergency medical response. Theory courses make up half of the program (150 clock hours) so that you have a solid base of knowledge from which to build.

Next, you will do labs for 56 clock hours. The lab allows the EMT student to practice what was learned in the theory courses in a safe and simulated environment. HCI’s EMT program in Fort Lauderdale gives you the hands-on practice you need before you enter the field.

Hands-on learning and real-world experience

The final step toward becoming an EMT is an externship. HCI’s program features a 94-clock-hour externship where you will get experience in an ambulance and in the hospital. You will work alongside EMTs, Paramedics, and other medical professionals for real-life EMT experience.

An externship shows you what to expect when you become a certified EMT. Every day is different for an EMT, but you must always be ready for what you may be called to do.

Upon successful completion of HCI’s EMT program in Fort Lauderdale, you will be qualified to take the National Registry Emergency Medical Technician (NREMT) examination to become certified as an EMT.

Starting your career as an EMT begins when you enroll in HCI’s EMT program. Our campus in Fort Lauderdale is in a convenient location for anyone in the Greater Fort Lauderdale area.
